Scott Dahl started the central Illinois chapter of Medals4Mettle in 2009 after reading about the organization in a 2008 issue of Runner’s World magazine. He saw the need for a chapter in the Springfield area.

We are proud to be a continued sponsor of Medals4Mettle of Central Illinois. Medals4Mettle is a non-profit organization that facilitates the gifting of marathon, half-marathon, triathlon and ultra marathon finishers' medals from runners to children and adults dealing with chronic or debilitating illnesses and have demonstrated similar mettle or courage in bravely facing these challenges.

This past Saturday was the organization's annual Scheel’s Treadmill Marathon event. All proceeds went to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

Mid-America Advertising donated the “HOPE” banner for the 5th annual American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K fundraising walk held October 20 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. Participants left pink post-it note messages of support on the banner. The banner will be displayed each year in honor of all women touched by breast cancer.
